Have you heard about the benefits of practicing YOGA? Yoga is not about getting into the shape of a pretzel. A Yoga practice is about moving your body with your breath to unite mind, body and spirit. And it is called a practice because it is a journey, not a destination. In this yoga class, you will learn yoga postures (asanas) to increase flexibility, strength, endurance, poise, balance and grace. Emphasis will be placed on deep, relaxing, calming yogic breathing (pranayama) to increase respiration, and help build focus and concentration. You will also concentrate on moving all the muscles, juicing all the joints, moving the spine in all five directions, and balancing the body front and back, side to side. Particular attention will be paid to alignment in the poses, meeting you where you are. This is a beginnerís class where modifications will be offered and students are encouraged to go at their own pace. Previous yoga practice not required, however being able to go from standing to the floor, unassisted, is necessary. If you have always wanted to try yoga please come prepared and ready to move your body, lengthen your muscles, juice your joints, and deepen your breath. Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing. A YOGA mat is required, a towel or blanket are optional. Bring a long sleeve shirt for warmth during integration (savasana), and a water bottle.

Class Description
Yoga focuses on developing balance, flexibility, and strength. Youíll calm your mind with relaxation and centering as your lung capacity is increased while you practice pranayama (breathing exercises). Yoga will challenge your muscles and realign your body giving you energy and a strong immune system.
